Zehra & Kirstan
Kirstan and Zehra stumbled upon each other in grad school and quickly became besties, primarily because they both understood the life-changing importance of a good taco. As they navigated the rollercoaster of life – think covid curveballs, flying overnight on Spirit Airlines in a middle seat (if you know, you know), weddings, international escapades, cookies, and a lot of dairy free goodies – they discovered they made quite the dynamic duo. With Kirstan’s roots in indigenous Mexican communities that she wanted to share and Zehra’s obsession with fitting travel plans into a spreadsheet, Eco Vacations was born, ready to take the world by storm—one delicious bite at a time!
Where did “travel in a good way” come from?
When Zehra and Kirstan started discussing the idea for Eco Vacations they kept coming back to the harm the global travel was causing indigenous communities, and eco systems around the world. Kirstan kept coming back to I want people to be able to travel but… “in a good way” and thus it was born.

Kirstan Ketter
Director of Ecotourism Operations
An indigenous goddess – small g – but with big energy. Kirstan is passionate about connecting indigenous peoples across the world and helping people have fun and travel in a good way. She loves her son more than anyone. He’s her favorite travel buddy.

Zehra Rizvi
Director of Strategic Development
Zehra loves systems, food, and language – though not necessarily in that order. She wants to travel in a good way, use her teacher voice, sleep in, and make nerdy spreadsheets with her mouth full of tacos. Her favorite people are her husband and their cat Winnie (so typical right?), and her besties who keep her sane.
